Abstract

Marker-based is widely used tracking technique for augmented reality applications. It is due to its very accurate registration and having no delay in overlying the virtual information on real-world environment. However, marker-based technique often suffers from limited tracking range due to which this approach is not often used in long range applications. This paper presents the automatic generation of layered marker that can be tracked from short as well as long distances. An evaluation of the generated marker is performed on standard ARToolKit framework. The analysis shows that automatic created layered marker extends the tracking range. The same marker can be successfully tracked from small and long distances and can be used in the development of such augmented reality applications that need long tracking range.
